Standard game aspects include:
- 8 different stations around a semicircle
- Angles change from station to station
- Ever-changing angles of the target flight path
- A round of skeet consists of 25 targets
- Some stations include shooting doubles
- Targets are thrown side to side
International Skeet
Prince George's County Trap and Skeet Center is one of 47 gun clubs in the U.S. that offer Olympic Games of International Skeet and International Trap (International Bunker).
International Skeet (Olympic Skeet) is a variant of skeet shooting and the specific variant used in the Olympic Games:
- A random delay of between 0 to 3 seconds, after the shooter has called for the target
- Series of 25 targets in a specific order
- The shooter has a fixed position between them.
- The shooter must hold their gun so that the buttstock is at mid-torso level until the target appears
- Some as singles and some as doubles
- Two throwing machines at different heights and increased speeds
Game Overview
Sporting clays is a shotgun sport that incorporates target presentations that will challenge a beginner or a seasoned shooter.
Standard game aspects include:
- Clay pigeons are thrown in singles and pairs
- Clay targets are thrown at various angles and speeds
- The number of targets thrown at each station is up to each shooter or squad
- The shooting grounds are laid out in a ‘course’ of stations or stands
- The size of a course may change with a normal round consisting of 5-10 stations and 50 targets
- These variations can be changed to keep the course challenging from round to round
Game Overview
In trap, clay targets are thrown by a machine located at approximately ground level and covered by a "trap house" at the center of the field. Trap is easy to learn, but hard to master
Standard trap game aspects include:
- Groups of five shots being taken from five shooting positions
- Maximum of five people shooting per round (squad)
- Random and unpredictable manner
- A round of trap consists of 25 shots
- Shooters then rotate to the next shooting position and repeat the process
- Targets are thrown rising and away from shooter
Types of Trap Games
Wobble Trap
A variant of standard trap, the main difference is a more extreme target flight path than in standard trap shooting:
- Targets are thrown up and down as well as side to side
- Wobble trap is a good warm up for Sporting Clays
International Trap
Prince George's County Trap and Skeet Center is one of 47 gun clubs in the U.S. that offer International Trap (International Bunker), an Olympic shooting event:
- Considered more difficult than other trap versions
- Single-target shooting
- Targets are thrown from one of 15 machines
- Targets distance, angle and speed are greater
